2021 - 2022

Frame an imperative for change and building stabilization

The Center for Civic Art’s story is about the transformation of sacred spaces into civic enterprises, while also branding Wilkinsburg Civic Center as dedicated to human-centric civic engagement as a strategy for economic and cultural community development.  The building’s 55,000 square feet, represent an array of restoration and renovation projects, that translate into employment opportunities, job training, and support services (behavior/health). When quality of life improves, so too does the safety and economic recovery of a community. Additionally, in 2021 a new coalition of young creative enterprises, leasing the Franklin Avenue spaces, will coalesce around a common community facing agenda, that yield creative outcomes and solutions to complex community development dynamics. Hence, once again, the church will become a place for a community to convene.
